How significant wealth is actually held
When a family describes their wealth, they give a figure. To monitor it, the figure is almost useless. What matters is the shape.
Significant wealth sits across many forms at once: deposits and custodied securities, trusts and foundations, holding companies and nominee arrangements, real estate, private equity and operating businesses, digital assets, insurance wrappers and pensions. Each is held through institutions, governed by jurisdictions, and dependent on counterparties.
The desk treats a family's wealth as a map of all of this. Every alert is tied to a point on that map. A risk that cannot be tied to the map is not the family's risk, and that single rule is what keeps the monitoring precise rather than noisy.
