Why we watch school directories

A quieter part of family coverage. Worth understanding why we do it.

School directories are leakier than parents realise.

Most schools maintain parent and student directories that are technically internal but practically leak. Through alumni databases, through PTA mailing lists, through old yearbooks digitised and indexed. A child of a client often appears on the open web in a school context they would not have consented to.

What we watch for.

New surfacing of a member's child in the open web. Mentions of the school combined with the family name. Photos uploaded to school-related social media. Cross-references between school events and client family events that could let an attacker infer a pattern.

What we do about it.

Removal requests where the listing is unauthorised. Quiet conversations with the school where the leak is structural. We never approach a child directly. The work is invisible to the kid.
