How the voice line works on Standing
What happens when something needs you on the phone, and the protocol that wraps around it.
We use the voice line carefully.
Most events don't warrant a voice call. The brief, the encrypted channel, the email, these handle 95% of what we send. Voice is reserved for events where you need to know now and the asynchronous channels won't reach you fast enough.
When we do call, the protocol is structured.
Out-of-band verification. We never ask for sensitive information on the call. If we need you to act on something, we send the action confirmation through a separate channel and ask you to verify against it. This protects you against deepfakes of us.
You can ring us too.
Standing clients get the line in both directions. If something feels off and you want to talk to a human at 11pm your time, the line is there. We aim to answer within fifteen minutes, day or night.
