Why we read the press cycle last
A discipline we hold to. The press is rarely wrong, but it's almost always too late.
Press is summary.
Press is interpretation of primary sources. Good press is good interpretation. The work has been done by someone else, and you are reading it after it has been processed.
Primary sources first.
We read filings, regulator publications, court records, sanctions packages, exchange statements first. By the time the press picks something up, we have read the source. The press becomes a check on our reading rather than the basis for it.
What this means for clients.
Most of the things you eventually read about in the financial press, you have already heard from us in plainer language and a few days earlier. That is the value of reading source-first.
